These guys are scammers, who have data from IT department about individuals who have outstanding tax dues. They are NOT from the department. Few relevant questions about your own PAN they are not able to answer, so you know who they really are...!
The woman asked me to call some number and give challan details of an outstanding income tax payment which I had already paid.
I think it is a scam call because the details of my payment are there on the IT portal.
She claims to be from income tax departement and ask me to pay my outstanding amount. I told her let me get my CA into the conference, she waited and disconnected. This lady has got a good command over english.
