One of my friend had posted an ad in an online platform. She had a collection of old coins and wanted to sell them for 3000 USD. She got a whatsapp message from this number (5172732890). Introduced himself as John Hunter from USA. The advertisement was posted on a local platform and not in united states. He texted that he want to purchase coins from her. He asked whether she had any more coins. She said yes and He said he want them all. She sent the pics of some more coins. He asked for the price and she said an amount around 4000 USD. He agreed without any negotiation. He then asked her to open an account in 'Neteller' to transfer the money. I felt like a scam and called that number from my cellphone. It was not answering even after several attempts. Neither the call going to a voicemail. She texted whether she can talk to him over the phone. He said only after opening the account. She installed the Neteller app. Then he asked her to deposit around 100 usd into her account to verify her account. I called Neteller to ask about this and the customer care girl told me no need to deposit that much amount to verify the account. just 5-6 USD could do that. In the mean time, that guy send us some family photos saying that its his family. I asked my friend to message him whether he can send us pics of his coin collection. He send a picture which was nicely arranged and showcased. It looked like a museum and not like a personal collection. I searched for that image in the internet and found that exactly same image from one of the national museum's website in India. This guy just downloaded that picture and send us saying that its his collection. My friend don't have any much knowledge about internet and internet scams. She approached me because she don't know to deal with the online transactions.

Everything you need to know about phone number lookup in Canada

Enter the Canadian phone number in WhoseNo's search box. Our free reverse lookup searches millions of records to identify the caller, show carrier information (Rogers, Bell, Telus), display user reports, and reveal if the number has been reported as spam or scam.

Canada's country code is +1, shared with the USA under the NANP (North American Numbering Plan). Canadian numbers are formatted as +1 (XXX) XXX-XXXX, where XXX is the area code. For example, a Toronto number (416) 555-1234 becomes +1-416-555-1234 internationally.

Canadian phone numbers aren't assigned to specific carriers by prefix. Due to number portability, users can switch carriers while keeping their number. Our lookup tool queries carrier databases to identify the current service provider. Major carriers include Rogers (with Fido, Chatr), Bell (with Virgin Plus, Lucky Mobile), and Telus (with Koodo, Public Mobile).

Yes, WhoseNo provides completely free reverse phone lookup for all Canadian numbers including Rogers, Bell, Telus, and regional carrier mobiles, as well as landlines across all provinces and territories. No registration or payment is required.

Search the number on WhoseNo and submit a report describing the call. For serious fraud, report to the Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre (CAFC) at 1-888-495-8501, file a complaint with the CRTC, or register on the National Do Not Call List (DNCL). You can also report to your phone carrier.

WhoseNo shows information that's publicly available or user-reported. This may include names from social media profiles, business registrations, or community reports. We don't have access to private telecom company databases or government records.
